The rust on this bottle is severe enough that the container was condemned and removed from service. Also notice that the cylinder is not equipped with an OPD valve. This propane bottle may have been laying on its side on the ground for a long period of time which is why it is rusted primarily on one side. The storage of propane bottles plays a vital role in their long term serviceability. Proper cylinder storage protects the useful life of all propane bottles and keeps them from rusting such as pictured here.
