The pitting seen here surrounds the cylinder's protective collar and was the reason this bottle was removed from service. Although the overall condition of the cylinder is not that bad, the depth of some of the pits caused by rust were deep enough to cause for its removal from service. A close look at the pits will reveal that the cylinders surface have compromised its integrity.
