The severe rust on the bottom of this cylinder caused the foot ring to break away from the container. Commonly, these areas on the bottom of a propane bottle are most affected by rust when they are installed on a barbeque grill. The reason being is that leaves and debris collect around the propane cylinder foot ring and hold moisture against the surface of the container. For this reason, it is important to keep dirt, leaves and debris away and from collecting around propane cylinders whether they are in use or being stored.
