Damaged cylinder foot rings cause the container surface bottom to be in contact with the ground. Also, as indicated by the picture, damaged bottle foot rings can cause the cylinder to lean to one side. Propane cylinders that have no foot ring will roll on their side. The "X" painted on the cylinder indicates it is no longer safe to continue in LP Gas service and is condemned.
