Sheared Propane Liquid Withdrawal Valve
The exposed internal spring of an actuated liquid withdrawal excess flow valve next to the liquid transfer valve. This liquid transfer valve was attached to this tank when the customer moved the tank himself. Instead of calling the propane company so that the tank could be moved properly, he chose to do it himself. The result was 125 gallons of lost gas, a fire department citation, a $300 tank repair bill for a total of just under $1,000 in expenditures. The service call to move the tank would have been $75. Not only is moving your own propane tank dangerous, it can be quite expensive.
